Today, we got dropped off at Heathrow Terminal 5. We saw a small shuttle and thought that it would take us to the tube. It looked like this-
We soon discovered that it was a pod. A pod is an electric self driven vehicle. To ride on one, you have to park at the business car park. A good video about the pods-
In the ticket office, I had my camera out because I was going to take a photo of the tube sign. Then, a member of staff came to me and said 'You're not allowed to take photos in the underground." I know that you're allowed to take photos because I've done it lots of times.
After the little incident at Heathrow Terminal 5, we boarded a train bound for Cockfosters. The electronic sign at Heathrow said 5 minutes, so I decided to test it. I timed how long the train took, and I found that the train took 8 minutes!!! Heathrow Airport need to sort them selves out, because if Heathrow is bad, then I dread to think what the city will be like.
On the train, we stopped at Heathrow Terminal 1, 2 and 3 then changed trains at Hatton Cross to go to Heathrow Terminal 4. At Heathrow Terminal 4, the train was supposed to stop for approximately 4 minutes. In the end, we were there for at least 10.
At Houslow east, we jumped off to get our photo by the sign. Before we could capture the image, the train doors closed. This was the first station that we had gotten 'stranded' at. It took about 5 minutes for the next train to arrive so I was stuck taking photos.
Back on the train, just after Osterley we went zooming past an abandoned station. There was a Tube depot just after Boston Manor. We were going so fast on the train that we couldn't take a photo of it. On my map, it said that the train should stop at Tunham Green. I know that is a station that the District Line also goes to, but our train went speeding through it. Thats why we haven't got a picture at it.
Just before Hammersmith, we went through a tunnel. This stretch of line seemed to be very busy. In my opinion, Hammersmith is a very classic station. It has a traditional ticket office.
After leaving Earls Court, we went underground. This showed that we were nearing the heart of London. At Arsenal station, I noticed that on the wall there was an old station name. I did some research on this and found out that it used to be called Gillespie Road.
We came out of the tunnel at Bounds Green and after that station, there was a small siding. We went under a long bridge (short tunnel) just after Southgate. After Southgate, there was a large depot. It looked like it was one of the lines main ones because it had so many trains in it. We reached Cockfosters later on in the afternoon.
I feel like the Piccadilly line is great and I would recommend it.
